As part of the contract conditions for new home construction, the builder typically provides a 12-month statutory warranty for non-structural defects from the date of practical completion. This is known as the maintenance period. You, the home owner, can request in writing that the builder fix any faulty or unsatisfactory building work found within the maintenance period.

Handover Hero will provide a comprehensive inspection and report including photos of all defects identified for you to provide to your builder.

BOOK

Complete our online booking form here. It’s ideal to book your Maintenance Inspection as you approach the 12 month mark, allowing you to see the house through all four seasons and providing time for settlement to occur.

INSPECT

Our licenced Builder and Inspector will complete a thorough inspection of your property, identifying defects in line with the QBCC Standards and Tolerances. We allow for an initial 30-minute on-site discussion and walk-through to go through any defects or concerns you have before our Inspector begins his process.

After the Inspection, he will give a brief outline of the defects found and advise if the property is below, at, or above average when compared to other new properties inspected by Handover Hero.

REPORT

We email you (and your Builder if you provide their email address) a comprehensive report outlining all defects found. The report includes detailed photos of each defect and references the QBCC Standards and Tolerances to help avoid disputes.

We’re available if you have any questions after reading through your report.
